Gerald Dupont, de Estados Unidos, nuevo Presidente del CID
El primer Presidente no – europeo desde la fundación del CID
Gerald DuPont, diácono de Galveston-Houston (Texas/USA), es el nuevo Presidente del Centro Internacional del diaconado (CID) fundado en 1965. DuPont sucede al alemán Klaus Kießling, que después de cumplir doce años como Presidente, no se presentó a la elección. Con DuPont es la primera vez en la historia del CID que un no- europeo preside la institución.
DuPont ha sido el Presidente de la Asociación de diáconos de Estados Unidos, una posición que implica –de forma única en el mundo-, un puesto permanente en la Conferencia de obispos católicos de Estados Unidos.
Los miembros del CID, en la Asamblea celebrada el viernes 8 de septiembre en Lourdes, durante su jornada de estudio “Salvación y sanación en una Iglesia Diaconal” eligieron los miembros de la Junta Directiva. Posteriormente, éstos escogieron los distintos cargos: Gerald DuPont, Presidente; Gilbert de Lima (India) y Mark Woods (Reino Unido), Vice-Presidentes; Montserrat Martinez (España), representante de las esposas de diáconos. Stefan Sander (Osnabrück/Rottenburg) sigue siendo el Gerente del CID.
Los siguientes delegados fueron re-elegidos por los miembros del CID: Miguel Ángel Ortiz Corrales (Cuba), Charles Dube (Zimbabwe), Martin Brunner-Artho (Suiza) und Terttu Pohjolainen (Finlandia). Fueron elegidos como delegados por primera vez: Benas Ulevičius (Lituania), Marie-Françoise Maincent-Hanquez (Francia), Nick Kerr (Australia), Erik Thouet (Alemania), Edwin Ng (Hong Kong/China) y Alberto Magno Carvalho de Melo (Brasil). Nombrados asesores para el CID fueron Ferenc Molnar, Hungría y el P. César Braga de Paula, Secretario Ejecutivo del DEVYM en la Conferencia de los obispos latinoamericanos (CELAM).
Gerald DuPont, Deacon from Galveston-Houston, Texas / USA, is the new President of International Diaconate Centre (IDC) founded in 1965. DuPont succeeds the German Klaus Kießling who after serving twelve years as President and Vice President, did not stand for election. With DuPont it is the first time in IDC history that a non-European leads the institution.
The IDC Members elected their new President last Sunday in Lourdes during their Study Conference “Salvation and Healing in a Diaconal Church”. DuPont has been the chair of the US Deacons‘ Association (NADD), a position which entails – uniquely in the world, a permanent seat in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The IDC members, at their Assembly, elected the members of the Board and later the new elected members chose the different roles: Gerald DuPont as President, Gilbert de Lima (India) and Mark Woods (UK) as Vice-Presidents and Montserrat Martínez (Spain) as representative of deacons ‘ wives. Stefan Sander (Osnabrück/Rottenburg) remains the Manager of the IDC.
